Trivy

Trivy is a straightforward yet thorough scanner designed to identify vulnerabilities in container images, file systems, Git repositories, and configuration settings. It falls under the security & privacy app category.

Ubuntu

Developed by the community, based on the Linux kernel operating system, which is ideal for use on personal computers, laptops and servers. It contains all the necessary programs that you need: an Internet browser, an office suite for working with texts, programs for communicating on the Internet and many others.

Ubuntu Juju

A universal modelling tool from Ubuntu, used for application oriented deployments, allows to deploy, configure, manage, maintain, and scale cloud applications quickly and efficiently on public clouds, as well as on physical servers, OpenStack, and containers.

UCP

Stands for the Docker Universal Control Plane. UCP is the commercial management solution for containerised applications inside a public cloud or on-premise. It is built on top of Docker Swarm. All UCP components are also running as containers.

UDP

User Datagram Protocol that allows computer applications to send messages (in this case referred to as datagrams) to other hosts over an IP network without the need for a prior message to set up special transmission channels or data paths.

UNIX

Family of portable, multitasking and multi-user operating systems. The ideas behind UNIX had a huge impact on the development of computer operating systems. Currently, UNIX-systems are recognized as one of the most historically important OS.

Stands for VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization certification. It validates candidate skills to implement, manage, and troubleshoot a vSphere V6.7 infrastructure, using best practices to provide a powerful, flexible, and secure foundation for business agility that can accelerate the transformation to cloud computing.

Virtualization

A tool for organizing several virtual computers on one real computer. In sum all the resources of virtual computers are equal to the resources of one real computer. Each virtual computer can have its own OS and perform its tasks without interfacing with others.

VLAN

Stands for "Virtual Local Area Network," or "Virtual LAN." A VLAN is a custom network created from one or more existing LANs. It enables groups of devices from multiple networks (both wired and wireless) to be combined into a single logical network.

VPN

Virtual Private Network is a network technology that creates a secure network connection over a public network such as the Internet or a private network owned by a service provider.

VRRP

Stands for Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol. VRRP is a standard Internet protocol (IP) that can be used for creating a virtual gateway or for load balancing. It allows a backup router for a statistically configured one on a local area network (LAN), in case it fails.

VxWorks

A real-time operating system (RTOS) designed for use in embedded systems. Used to control network and communication devices, test and measurement equipment, computer peripherals, automotive systems, avionics equipment, and diverse consumer products.

WAMP

Windows (OS) + Apache (web server) + MySQL (database) + PHP. A software stack for Windows, allowing to use your computer as a local server and host web apps (that use Apache, PHP & MySQL) on it.

WAN

Wide Area Network is a telecommunication geographically distributed network that interconnects multiple local area networks, it spans a large geographic distance - across cities, states, or countries.

WDS

Windows Deployment Services is a technology that allows extending the coverage area of a wireless network by combining multiple WiFi access points into a single network without the need for a wired connection between them (which is mandatory with the traditional network design).

Web API

An Application Programming Interface for a web server, web browser. It is a suite of device compatibility and access APIs that allow web apps and content to access device hardware. A client-side web API is a programmatic interface to extend functionality within a web browser or other HTTP client.

Web server

A server that accepts HTTP requests from clients, usually web browsers, and gives them HTTP responses, usually along with an HTML page, image, file, media stream or other data that the client needs.

WebRTC

Web Real-Time Communications is a project that allows you to receive media data (audio and video) through a browser and set up a Peer-to-Peer connection between two or more clients through which conventional data and media streams can be transmitted.

WebSockets

Full-duplex communication protocol (can transmit and receive simultaneously) over a TCP connection intended for messaging between the browser and the web server in real time. To establish a WebSocket connection, the client and the server use a protocol similar to HTTP.

A group of server operating systems released by Microsoft for more efficiently handling corporate networking, Internet hosting, databases, messaging and other needs for big and small business.

Xen

А cross-platform hypervisor with the feature of supporting the virtualization mode inside virtualization in addition to hardware virtualization. Minimality of the code and ease of the hypervisor is achieved due to the removal of the maximum number of components beyond the hypervisor.

XUL

XML User Interface Language. Provides the ability to design cross-platform applications that can run in both online and offline modes. Supports cascading style sheets, JavaSpcript, RDF, DOM, and HTML.
