An open networking protocol which main objective is to reduce the time it takes to load web pages and their elements. This is achieved by prioritizing and multiplexing the transfer of multiple files in such a way that only one connection is required for each client.

Interesting facts

The results show SPDY, on average, is only about 4.5% faster than plain HTTPS, and is in fact about 3.4% slower than unencrypted HTTP.
