Stands for Simple Network Management Protocol. An application-layer protocol designed for monitoring and managing network devices, such as routers, switches and wi-fi connected devices, and their functions. SNMP uses one or more manager-computers to oversee the devices via an agent, a software program that feeds information to managers.
