Application Programming Interface is the interface between the site and third-party programs and servers. On different online services or platforms, we can use the API to log in, instead of registering, through accounts in social networks.

In June of 2009 Apple launched the iPhone 3G, the App Store began allowing iPod Touch and iPhone owners to download applications through the iTunes desktop software or the App Store on their iPhones opening up entirely new world of mobile applications, one that APIs would be the driving force.
