On March 2, 2013, Evernote reported that hackers had access to the company's network and could access user information, including usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords. All users were asked to reset their passwords. After the incident, Evernote accelerated work on implementing optional two-factor authentication for all users. As of May of the same year, the opportunity was already available in a trial order for premium accounts.
